Purchasing Manager

Norton Motorcycles, one of the worlds must iconic Motorcycle brands is expanding its production capabilities, at its Manufacturing Facility in Castle Donington. Our Business is expected to grow significantly over the next 10 years as demand for our existing Quality Motorcycle range increases and our new V4 Superbike is introduced into the market.

We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager with a track record of delivery of all aspects of procurement within manufacturing/engineering / automotive industries. You will be an enthusiastic and capable individual whose internal relationships will be as important as those with your suppliers.

The Business is currently experiencing significant growth due to the increase in demand for our new and existing range of bikes.

Skills Required:

  • Experience in the procurement of raw material for in house manufacture as well as controlling secondary processes at subcontractors
  • Understanding of a complex product range with multiple manufacturing techniques and a global supply chain.
  • Develop and maintain commodity strategies for a range of motorcycles within your team to ensure that Norton is kept up to date on commercial and technical developments, as well as potential suppliers
  • A proficient negotiator with proven abilities in influencing people at all levels within the organisation.
  • Experience in component cost reviews from a total cost perspective as well as experience in bill of materials reviews
  • An understand of manufacturing processes and the cost drivers
  • Good understanding of legal regulations and contract management.
  • Experienced in managing, motivating and leading a team of buyers.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Have an understanding of technical engineering, along with a strong manufacturing and quality knowledge.
  • Strong commercial background within a manufacturing and/or engineering industry.
  • Experience in best cost country sourcing
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to build productive working relationships with both staff and Directors.
  • Integrity and confident when working under pressure.
  • Ability to remain proactive at all times.

Senior Buyer / Buyer

Norton Motorcycles, one of the worlds must iconic Motorcycle brands is expanding its production capabilities, at its Manufacturing Facility in Castle Donington. Our Business is expected to grow significantly over the next 10 years as demand for our existing Quality Motorcycle range increases and our new V4 Superbike is introduced into the market.

We are now looking to recruit several Senior Buyers/ Buyers to be based at our headquarters at Donington Hall. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment for one of the most passionate and exciting names in the Motorcycling industry.  

Working with the existing Purchasing Team you will form part of driving the purchasing function forward to ensure there is a robust and committed supply chain.

The successful person would need to be an experienced Buyer with a track record of delivery within manufacturing/engineering/automotive industries. You should be able to demonstrate examples of cost reduction through both direct negotiation and working strategically with suppliers to find mutually beneficial cost-downs. You will be an enthusiastic and capable individual whose internal relationships will be as important as those with your suppliers.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Ensuring there are always sufficient components in stock to satisfy the demands of production
  • Optimising stock levels
  • Expediting purchase orders to ensure deliveries are on time and in full
  • Participating in the development of purchasing specifications for material, components or products
  • Evaluate cost data and quotation analysis and cost reduction opportunities
  • Identify supplier risk and develop robust risk mitigation strategies to counter these
  • Developing strong commercial relationship with all suppliers
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s quality and environmental standards.

Essential skill requirements:

  • Good communication skills and the ability to communicate confidently with Design and Manufacturing colleagues in addition to external suppliers and other Buyers.
  • Good negotiation, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to apply logical reasoning to situations and strong organisational skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Strong numerical, verbal and written skills and experience of concise and accurate report writing.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • The flexibility to travel worldwide for supplier visits.

Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is preferred and you will need to demonstrate the ability to manage purchase of raw material requirements of a manufacturing business.

Powertrain Engineer

The role of Powertrain Engineer at Norton is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join a small close-knit team of industry professionals in a fast moving and dynamic environment, working with one of the most passionate and exciting names in the motorcycling industry here at Donington Hall.

The candidate will be involved in all 3 of our engine platforms, from our new V4 and 650 engines to our existing production 961. Day to day roles will include part validation, power development and race engine component design. Experience with production and motorsport engine design is essential.

Experience essential:

  • Pro Engineer / CREO experience
  • Experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM)
  • Experience with Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques
  • Experience with aluminium’s castings, forgings, mouldings, rubbers and steels

Norton invites applicants from all engineering backgrounds, however, a practical experience of motorcycle fundamentals will be of great benefit as would a working knowledge of high-end 3D CAD systems, the candidate must be a team player and possess an excellent work ethic.

Motorcycle Service Technician

The role of Motorcycle Technician at Norton Motorcycle (UK) Ltd is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join a small close knit team of industry professionals in a fast moving and dynamic environment, working with one of the most passionate and exciting names in the motorcycling industry here at Donington Hall.

Key Responsibilities:

• Test and diagnose vehicle faults, interpreting repair order instructions and technical information.

• Plan necessary work and order parts to ensure vehicles are ready as promptly as possible.

• Carry out all servicing and repairs to manufacturer standards and with effective use of time and resources.

• Discuss any work requiring specialist skills with the workshop supervisor/controller.

• Accurately report vehicle faults and work carried out for ease of reference by service reception.

• Observe relevant health and safety procedures, including the use of protective clothing and equipment.

• Maintain work area, tools and equipment in a safe and clean condition.

• Maintain correct warranty procedures and clocking details in line with defined company procedures.

• Train apprentices when required and supervise ensuring work is checked before being released.

• Return exchanged parts to the parts department.

• Maintain quality standards of dress, attitude, customer care, honesty and health and safety in order to portray a professional image to customers at all times.

• Follow personnel policies and procedures, including holiday periods, disciplinary codes, etc.

Engine Build

Norton Motorcycles, one of the worlds must iconic Motorcycle brands is expanding its production capabilities, at its Manufacturing Facility based at Donington Hall.

Our Business is expected to grow significantly over the next 3 years as demand for our existing range and new and exciting V4 Bike increases daily.

Must have good knowledge of 4 stroke engines and be practically minded along with being able to understand instructions, working from drawings and assembly manuals.  Have an understanding of measuring equipment such as verniers and bore micrometers.

Skills Required

  • Experience in building engines
  • Preparation of raw engine parts
  • Good use of hand tools
  • Good understanding of 4 stroke engines
  • Able to read drawings and manuals
  • Be methodical in assembly
  • Good eye for detail

Security Guard

Norton Motorcycles, one of the worlds must iconic Motorcycle brands is expanding its’ production capabilities, at its’ Manufacturing Facility in Castle Donington. Our Business is expected to grow significantly over the next 10 years as demand for our existing Quality Motorcycle range increases and our new V4 Superbike is introduced into the market.

We are now looking to recruit an additional Security Officer, predominantly to work  weekends, but also some weekday overlap will be required and will be based at our headquarters at Donington Hall.

 

We are Looking for a motivated individual who can work as part of a team and on their own.  Duties are to include carrying out patrols, security checks, along with intervention skills and to be able to manage any issues that may arise.

Complementing our 24-hour Security, we are looking for someone to work weekends and cover holidays.  Hourly rate £10.00

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and security of staff and customers within working environment
  • Act as a visual deterrent
  • Liaising with police and other emergency services
  • Report writing
  • Internal/external patrols

Requirements:

  • A full UK driving licence and access to own transport is essential
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Ability to work CCTV

Production Welders Mig and Tig

Our Motorcycles are Hand Built at Donington Hall and recognised throughout the world.

We are looking for hardworking and committed talented people to join our team, embrace the passion which exists within our Welding and Fabrication Team, and help us on our journey to become a World Class Manufacturer.

As a result, we are looking for Production Welders with experience in Mig and Tig Welding in Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium.

The successful person will be a time served metal polisher, with experience of welding to a high-quality standard, possess a good work ethic and an eye for detail. Your work will be visible on every Norton Motorcycle, and personal pride and high-quality standards will reflect the pride you display in producing our products.

Sub Assembly

We have vacancies from enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our Motorcycle Sub Assembly department

All our Motorbikes are hand built to an extremely high standard. Each individual bike has to go through a rigorous production process from start to finish and once completed, undergoes a thorough Quality Testing, Compliance and Sign Off Process.

Skills Required

  • Excellent Use of Hand Tools
  • Experience in Hand Assembly of Complex Units
  • Some knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Assembly and components
  • Ability to build products to benchmark standards
  • A methodical approach to following instructions, either written, diagrammatic or verbal
  • Conscientious and with an eye for detail
  • Good Problem Solving ability
  • Able to contribute to improving Department Performance through Continuous Improvement
  • Flexible, Hardworking and able to work both independently and as part of a team
