Quality Manager

Joining the Vehicle Quality arm of the Quality Department the primary duty will be to ensure all parts carried over from “old Norton” are identified, quantified and signed off as OK/NOK. This is mission critical to ensue parts available to build are inline with the Quality department vision of creating exquisite products that exceed customer expectations.

Over time this role will develop into managing the inspection team and area responsible for quality control through goods-in all the way to final product. Developing the people, processes and systems to ensure Norton are at the leading edge of automotive quality controls.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

Daily Tasks:

  • Identify all legacy stock in the current warehouse and plan the inspection of all previously unquantified parts.

  • Responsible for overall quality signoff of conforming parts.

  • Provide the vehicle quality manager with key metrics such as total parts to inspect, time to inspect, cost to inspect, method of inspection.

  • Establish and drive KPI’s for all inspection areas.

  • Establish the goods-in area processes and procedures.

  • Research and source industry leading inspection equipment ensuring Norton Motorcycles are at the forefront of inspection techniques.

  • Coordinate all inspection activities, raise inspection requests, track progress, plan capacity with supplier and internally. Report on expected completion start and end dates.

  • Act as a point of contact between Norton Motorcycles and contract inspection services.

  • Feedback to quality and engineering on results, driving design change requests where necessary.

  • Act as the liaison between design and inspection for drawing and component queries.

  • Manage and maintain the inspection tracking and reporting database.

  • Manage non-conformances in the concern database and seek concern resolution as part of the wider Norton team.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment

  • Ideally educated to degree level in a mechanical engineering or metrology discipline, relevant industry experience will be considered.

  • Able to accurately quote time and cost of inspection against a set criteria.

  • Strong communicator, able to liaise between external suppliers and internal customers in a dynamic and time sensitive environment.

  • Full UK motorcycle license desirable

Special Requirements:

The role-holder may at times be expected to work outside of core business hours to support Norton Motorcycles projects and processes. In addition, the role-holder will be required to undertake international travel as commensurate with the role.
