Junior IT Support Technician

Job Description

Norton Motorcycles is a rapidly expanding dynamic business that is looking for an experienced

First Line IT Technician based at Norton Motorcycles and The Priest House Hotel.

The successful applicant should be highly organised, conscientious, be able to plan and prioritise their work and possess excellent communication skills.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • To provide technical support; answering support queries either onsite or via phone or email
  • To maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles
  • To take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues
  • Respond to enquiries from clients and help them resolve any hardware or software problems
  • Maintain a log of any software or hardware problems detected
  • Support users in the use of Computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice
  • To allocate more complex service issues to the relevant IT Support member
  • To arrange for external technical support where problems cannot be resolved in house

Advantageous skills and knowledge:

  • Migration of mail accounts from Gmail to Microsoft Exchange
  • Experience with Sage 50 and Sage 200
  • Wireless access points and networks
  • VOIP Systems
  • Relevant 1st line / Helpdesk support experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on Windows desktop technologies (XP / Vista / Windows 7)
  • Experience using and troubleshooting Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint Outlook)
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration
  • Excellent telephone manner and face to face communication skills

 

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosis of desktop, application, networking and infrastructure issues
  • Troubleshooting PC’s
  • Providing IT support to users
  • Installation and support of telecommunication equipment
  • Maintaining a log of all problems detected
  • Working closely with software suppliers to resolve operational issues
  • Responsible for supporting Microsoft Office Suite, anti-virus products, Ethernet and wireless connections
