Operations Manger

Norton Motorcycles (UK) Limited is a rapidly expanding dynamic business based at Donington Hall Castle Donington. Due to new product release and growing order books we are substantially increasing capacity/production. We are looking to appoint an Operations Manger to run the factory. This is a senior executive position and as such requires a person with the ability and character to undertake the tasks involved.

JOB BRIEF:
To plan, direct and co-ordinate the company’s operations and be responsible for improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. Connecting departments and managing all aspects of the factory, reporting to the Directors.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven work experience as an operations manager
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, production and export 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the business
  • Leadership and organisational skills
  • Motorcycle experience helpful but not essential

Live-in Domestic Housekeeper for Donington Hall

Donington Hall the home of the iconic British brand Norton Motorcycles (UK) Limited is looking for a live in Domestic Housekeeper. We would also consider couples with ability for gardening/maintenance work.

The housekeeper will be responsible for the running of the owners private accommodation and also the overall tidiness and cleanliness of the Hall, which is the centre piece of many activities and functions such as product launches, weddings, conferences and black tie balls.

The person or couple must be experienced in all aspects of professional housekeeping and be flexible and adaptable. Duties will be varied as it includes looking after the owners interests and accommodation along with the Hall events that occur from time to time.

Independent living accommodation will be provided along with a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Senior Design Engineer

The role of Senior Design Engineer at Norton is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join a small close knit team of industry professionals in a fast moving and dynamic environment, working with one of the most passionate and exciting names in the motorcycling industry here at Donington Hall, Castle Donington.

The role will consist of product design and validation from concept through to production and production support, including scheming and detailed component engineering using the latest 3D CAD software (Pro E), homologation and vehicle testing.

As a senior member of the design team the candidate will have engineering responsibility for derivative models and following these into production, as well as significant areas on new projects.  A senior design engineer will also assist with the day to day running of the design office.

CAD Engineer

A minimum of 3 years of Pro Engineer CAD experience is a requirement, along with the ability to use Creo surfacing functionality to create complex parts.

Senior Purchaser

Norton Motorcycles are looking for a Senior Purchaser to support its buying team based at Donington Hall. Working with the existing buyers this individual will form part of the purchasing function of this UK based global brand to ensure a robust and committed UK supply team. We believe that communication, management and development of the supply chain are paramount.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Purchaser with a track record of delivery within the manufacturing / engineering / automotive industries. You will be an enthusiastic and capable individual whose internal relationships will be as important as those with your suppliers.

Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is essential and you will need to demonstrate the ability to manage the operational raw material requirements of a manufacturing business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure there are always sufficient components in stock to satisfy the demands of production
  • Optimise stock levels
  • Develop the practice of expediting purchase orders to ensure delivery promises are achieved
  • Coordinate with all other departments for smooth functioning and prioritising of purchase department activity

Buyer

Norton Motorcycles is looking to add a Buyer to its Buying team based at our new headquarters at Donington Hall. Working with the existing team of buyers this individual will form part of driving the purchasing function of this UK based global brand to ensure a robust and committed supply chain. We believe that management and development of external suppliers is paramount.

We are looking for an experienced Buyer with a track record of delivery within manufacturing/engineering/automotive industries. You must be able to demonstrate a track record of cost reduction through both direct negotiation and working strategically with suppliers to find mutually beneficial cost-downs. You will be an enthusiastic and capable individual whose internal relationships will be as important as those with your suppliers.

Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is preferred and you will need to demonstrate the ability to manage the operational raw material requirements of a manufacturing business.

General Administration Assistant

Norton Motorcycles is a rapidly expanding dynamic business that is looking for a General Administration Assistant to join us based at Donington Hall.

The successful applicant should be highly organised, conscientious, be able to plan and prioritise their work and possess excellent communication skills.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Purchasing Team with supplier orders
  • Checking purchase orders to delivery notes
  • Checking availability of stock in stores
  • Arranging carriers for importation of parts
  • Liaising with the warehouse for deliveries and collections

   Essential qualities and requirements:

  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Quality Controller

The role of Quality Controller at Norton is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join a small close knit team of industry professionals in a fast moving and dynamic environment, working with one of the most passionate and exciting names in the motorcycling industry here at Donington Hall.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage inspection activities, including Goods-In
  • Creating and maintaining work instructions, including product / customer specific documents
  • Work with production / purchasing to ensure there is enough capacity and lead-time for inspection
  • Carry out internal audits and surveillance checks
  • Carry out inspections
  • Review & Validate in-process inspection, including some manual inspection
  • Scanning
  • Jig & Gauge creation for inspection
  • Maintain inspection facilities and equipment to a high standard, including calibration control
  • Keep up-to date with relevant inspection technologies and processes

Key requirements:

  • Workshop practical process knowledge
  • Good foundation level of engineering
  • Inspection Knowledge
  • Root cause analysis and managing the implementation of corrective actions
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • An organised and tidy approach to work

International Dealer Manager

Norton Motorcycles (UK) have a vacancy for an International Dealer Manager based at their headquarters at Donington Hall in Castle Donington. 

Managing the global dealer network the role will be the direct line of contact to the dealer and distributor network.  Comprehensive responsibilities will include planning of dealer network - dealer management process to include all aspects of the application, appointment or replacement of new and existing dealers.   Building a global dealer network is essential to explore new market opportunities.  In addition Dealer Agreement amendments and renewals along with warranty procedure and build planning. 

 

Knowledge and Experience 

The successful applicant will display excellent communication qualities, forward thinking and be pro-active with judgement, direction-setting and achieving targets.

Experience of international sales within in the motorcycle/automotive sector is essential along with a strong understanding of the dynamics of motorcycle/automotive dealership and its’ functions.

Motorcycle Technician

KEY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Test and diagnose vehicle faults, interpreting repair order instructions and technical information.

• Plan necessary work and order parts to ensure vehicles are ready as promptly as possible.

• Carry out all servicing and repairs to manufacturer standards and with effective use of time and resources.

• Discuss any work requiring specialist skills with the workshop supervisor/controller.

• Accurately report vehicle faults and work carried out for ease of reference by service reception.

• Observe relevant health and safety procedures, including the use of protective clothing and equipment.

• Maintain work area, tools and equipment in a safe and clean condition.

• Maintain correct warranty procedures and clocking details in line with defined company procedures.

• Train apprentices when required and supervise ensuring work is checked before being released.

• Return exchanged parts to the parts department.

• Maintain quality standards of dress, attitude, customer care, honesty and health and safety in order to portray a professional image to customers at all times.

• Follow personnel policies and procedures, including holiday periods, disciplinary codes, etc.

Engine Builder/Engine Sub Assembly

Job vacancy for a full time Engine Builder and Engine Sub Assembly

Must have good knowledge of 4 stroke engines and be practically minded along with being able to understand instructions, working from drawings and assembly manuals. Have an understanding of measuring equipment such as verniers and bore micrometers.

Duties to include

  . Preparation of raw engine engine parts

 . Good use of hand tools

 . Good understanding of 4 stroke engines

 . Able to read drawings and manuals

 . Be methodical in assembly

 . Good eye for detail

 . Building sub assemblies and engines by hand

Experience in building engines but full training will be given

Must be Reliable, Flexible and Punctual

Motorcycle licence would be an advantage

Skilled Aluminium Welder/Fabricator Required

Skilled Aluminium Welder/Fabricator Required

Prospective candidates are being invited to apply for the position of Aluminium Welder/Fabricator at the iconic Norton Motorcycle factory based in Castle Donnington. The ideal candidate would ideally be an experienced aluminium fabricator with a solid background in TIG welding sheet aluminium down to 2mm. Daily duties would include the welding and fabrication of motorcycle fuel tanks, clip-on’s and one-off specialist parts. Attention to detail and a committed work ethic is essential. Great rates of pay, plenty of overtime and genuine co-workers await the ideal candidate.

Production Staff

Skilled production staff are required with a positive and focused attitude who can take ownership and responsibility for their role, whilst seeing the build process through to completion.

The job will be to assemble our world class motorcycles where you will perform service and maintenance procedures and run computer aided diagnostics. A determined and accurate approach is needed along with the ability to work on your own initiative and part of a team.

Essential knowledge in automotive engineering/manufacturing is required along with experience working with motorcycles.
